This is not surprising since there are thousands of people who have experienced this painful disorder. Many of these remedies date back well before our grandparents and great grandparent’s time; this pain has been felt for thousands of years. Soaking your foot in Epsom Salts has been a very popular remedy especially if the pain is centered around the big toe. Some of the foods used to help ward off a progressing gout attack contain high vitamin C content such as;

Anxiety Cures – What’s Right for You?

Is there an effective anxiety remedy that fits you? Remedies vary from things you think, do, or consume. Partly what’s right for you depends on the underlying causes to your anxiety. We are not talking about normal or occasional fears, but rather anxiety that gets in the way of normal living. If you are hit with fears like that, there is hope. Treatments are available. The only question is what works for you.

If you are reading this article, though, perhaps you have tried different possible remedies with discouraging results. Or maybe you have had a relapse or are newly aware of a problem. Now may be a good time to get a broad view of where you have been and what the possibilities are for you in the future. In other words if you are looking for a quick fix (aren’t we all), you may be in for a disappointment unless your next move is just right for you. Ordinarily, the best anxiety fixes take a little learning, discipline, and patience. And that’s OK.

I. Taking an account of the past

First, is there anything you can rule out? Is your anxiety related to hypoglycemia or hyperthyroidism or some other health challenge? Are you tensed up because you react that way to caffeine and did not know it was in your soft drink? Have you recently started taking a drug for anxiety or something else and in you it has an anxiety-like side effect? Are you deficient in some nutrient or reacting to some environmental toxin?

I am not suggesting you should diagnose yourself, only that you make observations about yourself which you can use to ask your doctor. Keep a journal of activities corresponding with emotions.

In addition, there are possible behavioral and emotional triggers. You may not realize how much a birth, death, change in job, divorce, marriage, or other lifestyle change has affected you even if the event is happy, like a birth. What was your relationship with your parents and siblings like when you were growing up? Think about your reactions. Your emotions. When did they change? What triggers your anxiety?

Are you afraid to let your perfectionist guard down? Do you feel more calm if you can control everybody? Do you constantly seek the appreciation of others? Do you feel helpless in regard to a relationship or career or your health or finances? Do you obsess over a difficult past event or past blunders?

So by all means rule out what can be. Or if you find something that pushes your anxiety level higher, your method of fighting anxiety may be targeted to the negative influence

II. Take note of what does not work

Avoidance behavior seems as if it reduces anxiety. In the short run, avoidance may bring relief. But in the long run, it makes anxiety worse. The more you let fear win, the greater it becomes. The more you retreat, the more ground fear gains.

Alcohol may calm temporarily, but it may also enable one to ignore what needs to be faced. And one may find one needs increasing amounts to feel calm … which leads to worse problems. Self-pity may make help you justify your condition, but how does it help you overcome it? Or on the flip side, blaming yourself may give you a sense of moral accomplishment, but it may also discourage you from taking needed action. And you may not be at fault at all or in some ways. And again, the important question is not if you are partly to blame, but what are you going to do to overcome your anxiety?

More broadly, if you have tried something to reduce or eliminate your anxiety and it has not shown any promise, try something else. Or if something works a little, add another technique.

III. Take an inventory list of possible remedies

What is available? Cognitive behavior therapy, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy (EMDR), exposure therapy, emotion freeing technique, deep and slow breathing exercises, calming amino acids and herbs, regular exercise, changing to a less stressful job, prescription drugs, relaxation techniques, aromatherapy, homeopathy, good sleep habits, distracting and enjoyable hobbies, yoga, and so on. Make a list.

IV. Take Action

Use the internet, local library and bookstore to research your options within your budget. Try a range of healthy possibilities. Ask yourself if there are emotional or other barriers to your progress. Keep a diary of your feelings. Track and evaluate your negative and defeatist words and replace those with more neutral or hopeful words where you can reasonably believe them. Be disciplined about healthy habits like good diet, exercise, and sleep. Learn to breath slowly and deeply. Pray daily if you are into that. Set up an appointment with a therapist or a doctor. Join a group for mutual encouragement. Where appropriate, ask forgiveness of someone you have offended or forgive someone who has offended you.

Causes of anxiety and panic can be unusual, but most are common, and so popular and effective remedies for others will probably work for you. Try different ones and keep practicing what works for you.

The Right Way to Stop Snoring

There are millions who have been affected by snoring and its negative effects not only bothers the snorer himself but also all those who surround him. In fact, those who are often most affected are the ones who are closely connected to him, the people who sleep close to him. Snoring can be the cause of his married’s dissolution proven by the fact that there are several relationships that have been marred by the negative consequences of excesive snoring.

However, if you have done enough research, there is a way to control excessive snoring and one way to fight it is by using a stop snoring mouthpiece. Once you snore, your jawbone moves backwards hence blocking the airflow and producing the annoying sound of snoring. The stop snoring mouthpiece holds back your jawbone from making it more susceptible to snoring as it moves the jaw forward and in the process clears the passage while the person is asleep. When the airflow is not blocked, oxygen flows freely which prevents you from giving off that awful sound.

Now you can find a lot of snoring mouthpiece kinds that are available in the market and you can choose anything you want. Some in fact, in their desire to save up, opt for the many models available online. The major disadvantage about this is that the snoring mouthpiece that you are to wear in your mouth will most likely not fit the actual shape and size of your mouth, thus instead of putting a stop to your snoring, it may not just not prevent you from snoreing continuously but it may also harm your mouth in the process.

Another option is to visit the dentist and to have an imprint of your mouth for its exact dimensions for a proper snoring mouthpiece to be manufactured and custom fit for your mouth. The major downside on this is that this entire dental process may cost about 200 to 300 dollars, and if you don’t have that amount, can you find an alternative that is not that costly and not as risky as that of its cheap version?

Well, there is and all you have to do is locate them on the internet. Through that, you won’t be wasting much time and resources scouring for it.

Discover how you can spot the best stop snoring mouthpiece for you by checking this site: http://www.stop-snoring-mouthpiece.org

Build Muscle Mass by Eating a Balanced Diet

Most people believe that weight training is the most effective way to build muscle but it is really just a small part of the process. Along with your regular workouts, you will have to eat a balanced diet that contains all of the vitamins and nutrients you need to boost muscle growth. If your goal is to build muscle mass quickly, keep in mind the following diet-related tips:

1. Eat twice your body weight in protein.

Note that this tip does not mean the food on your plate should weigh more than you do. It means you should eat twice the amount of protein in grams as your body weighs in pounds. So if you weigh 130 pounds, your protein consumption should be around 260 grams.

2. Eat different types of proteins.

While meat is one of the most common sources of protein, other protein-rich foods are available that you can include in your diet. The more types of proteins you eat, the better because each of the brings something different to the table. So don’t just stick to a diet of pork and beef. Try alternating these foods with fish, soy, beans, cottage cheese, and eggs for more variety.

3. The more active you are, the more protein you need.

People who take part in strenuous and constant physical activities such as sports and aerobics require more protein in their diets. If you fail to consume adequate amounts of protein, your muscles will weaken and become slack. This is why most coaches of football or basketball teams encourage their athletes to eat a high-protein diet especially during the playing season.

4. Drink plenty of water.

Drink eight to ten glasses of water daily if you want to gain muscle as fast as possible. This amount should be enough to replace the fluids you lose during your workouts and while performing other daily activities.

5. Take protein supplements.

Many people these days are not able to get all the vitamins and nutrients they need from their regular meals due to the lack of time to prepare healthy home-cooked food. You can solve this problem by taking protein supplements, which you can buy from most health stores. When taking these supplements, however, make sure that you increase your fluid intake in order to avoid damage to the liver or the kidney, which are possibilities with a high-protein diet. Better yet, talk to your doctor before you start taking protein supplements.

6. Don’t forget to eat your carbs.

A lot of people equate eating carbohydrates with becoming overweight, so they tend to avoid eating carbohydrates whenever they can. Carbohydrates, however, are essential in producing energy in the body. A diet too low in carbs will eventually make you weak and sluggish. Don’t worry about the weight you may gain from eating carbohydrates. If you are following an active exercise routine, you can burn off the extra carbs with just a couple of workouts.

Realize that gaining muscle is not something that can be done overnight. There are no real shortcuts for this process so you should avoid taking steroids and similar substances, as they will only be harmful to your health in the long run.

Breathe Away Your Head Ache

Without oxygen, the human body cannot survive more than just a few minutes. As a matter of fact, even before the body itself dies, you will lose consciousness. This just shows you exactly how important oxygen is and in many cultures, the air we breathe is considered to be our life. In reality, many of them may not be far from the truth and unless we are getting adequate oxygen on a regular basis, a number of different health problems can occur which can include headaches.

If you really want to be balanced on the inside of your body and you give yourself the best opportunity to avoid problems, such as headaches, you need to make sure that the oxygen that it needs is reaching every part of it. There are two different things that need to be done in order for this to take place. First of all, you need to be breathing properly so that the oxygen is going to be able to get into your blood in the first place. Secondly, you need to make sure that your circulatory system is up to par and that the blood is reaching every area of your body. Once these two things are in place, you would be surprised with exactly how easy it can be.

As far as breathing properly is concerned, very few of us do this on a regular basis. The way to tell if you are breathing properly or not is to watch your stomach whenever you are breathing normally. If your stomach is going in and out, that is a sign that your diaphragm is moving which shows that you are breathing deeply. Most of us tend to be chest breathers and we are never really filling our lungs up to capacity. Even though the blood is picking oxygen up from the lungs, it may not be picking it up to the full. Work on this consciously and you can change it over the course of time.

One other thing that you may want to consider is increasing your activity level in order to increase your circulation. If you get cardiovascular exercise regularly, you strengthen the heart and allow it to pump blood into further areas of the body. It also helps if you eat a proper diet and hydrate yourself properly. Once you have these two things in place, your body will be in a position to be able to heal itself and you will see a reduction in the number of headaches you experience.

Tips for Coping with Arthritis Pain

Arthritis is a disease that involves the inflammation of one or more joints. Arthritis causes chronic pain that can be disabling. It can impact a person’s ability to complete everyday activities. What’s more, the unending pain associated with arthritis can lead to depression. Arthritis is an incurable disease and there is no way of stopping the cause. However, there are ways of treating the symptoms of the disease. Doctors usually prescribe physical therapy and anti-inflammatory pain medication for the treatment of arthritis. Unfortunately, these treatments are not always completely effective. Yet it’s not all bad news. If you have arthritis, there are things you can do to make your pain easier to manage.

A Healthy Diet

Eating a diet that includes lots of healthy whole foods can help to reduce the symptoms of arthritis. For best results, eat lots of fruits, vegetables and oily fish such as sardines or mackerel. Avoid all processed foods, and cut back on red meat, poultry, sugar and coffee. Eating a healthy diet will help reduce the pain associated with arthritis. It should also help you to maintain a healthy weight.

Regular Exercise

When you are crippled with arthritis pain, the last thing you want to do is exercise. Yet exercise can do much to help ease the pain of arthritis. A regime of regular low-impact exercise will strengthen your muscles and keep your joints flexible. Hence it will be easier to manage the physical tasks you currently find challenging. It is important that you consult your doctor before beginning any kind of exercise regime.

Lose Excess Weight

Being overweight makes arthritis pain worse. That’s because excess weight puts extra strain on inflamed joints. This is especially true for people who suffer arthritis in the back, knees or ankles. If you are heavier than you should be, it is in your best interest to get rid of any extra pounds. Stay Positive

Being in severe pain each and every day of your life can have a detrimental impact on your mental health. If you have arthritis, it’s important to try to remain positive. Do not lose hope, or allow your pain to take over your life. Instead, look for positive actions you can take to make it easier to live with the pain.

Distraction

Pain always feels worse when you think about it. Hence it is important for the arthritis sufferer to look for distractions. When your arthritis pain threatens to overwhelm you, find something to do that will stop you from thinking about it. For instance, you could try reading a book, watching a movie, browsing the internet, completing a puzzle, playing a video game, listening to music, or painting a picture. Do whatever it takes to stop your mind from focusing on your pain.

Treating the Depression

If you have been in chronic pain for several months because of your arthritis, you may find that you are suffering from depression because of it. If you are depressed because of your arthritis, do not suffer in silence. Tell your doctor about your depression so that you can get the appropriate treatment. Your doctor can help you decide whether you need psychotherapy sessions and/or antidepressant medication.

Alternative Therapies

Some arthritis sufferers find that alternative therapies are very helpful when it comes to coping with the pain. Acupuncture and chiropractic treatments can do much to help arthritis sufferers. Certain herbs and spices are also thought helpful when it comes to the treatment of arthritis. Alfalfa, angelica, black, cohosh, devil’s claw, ginger, ginseng, hawthorn and turmeric are just some of the herbs available for the treatment of arthritis. If you have arthritis, it is a good idea to look into some of the alternative therapies that are available. You never know what might help until you give it a try.

Tips For Hair Loss Prevention

Without a doubt, hair is one of the most reliable indicators of the body’s health. Scientists can even test it to determine what diseases a person has had, or any drugs they have used. Almost everything that has passed through the bloodstream ends up in the hair.

Naturally, this includes vitamins and minerals. Many of them are essential to ensure the health of the follicle, the papilla and its matrix, and the hair that grows from it. The hair that is outside the scalp has no nerves or blood supply, and is classified as “dead” tissue. It must be, or it could not be cut painlessly. Despite the claims made by manufacturers of externally applied products, it is impossible to “nourish” or “feed” visible hair. These products alter the hair’s appearance, usually by coating it with wax or lanolin. The only way to nourish hair is to provide the nutrients to the papilla while the hair is growing. Healthy hair starts from within.

A number of vitamins and minerals have been identified as having a specific and positive effect on hair health. These include Folic Acid, Niacin, Vitamin B12, Biotin, Pantothenic Acid, Choline Bitartrate, Inositol, PABA, Iodine, Iron, Silica Oxide, Magnesium, Copper, Zinc and Manganese. It is important to remember that even an intensive vitamin therapy won’t help all men or women with alopecia. There is no “magic cure” for all people, or for all types of hair loss.

All natural supplements with the right mix of vitamins and minerals, can produce a positive effect on terminal hair which is known as head hair and may counteract some hair loss. Like many traditional therapies, supplements will provide optimum results when used early in treatment. Taking your supplements at the first sign of losing your hair, can have a positive effect in treating the main causes of alopecia before significant portions of hair fall out.

Thinning hair connected with age may be caused by diminishing nutrients to the hair follicles due to capillary loops not supplying as much blood. A natural supplement that provides these extra nutrients and keep the hair follicles more healthy.

A healthy follicle and papilla will always produce hair. Unfortunately, for many people, a “healthy” follicle is lacking, either through insufficient nutrients or health hazards.

Traditional medicine using drugs that are focused on specific areas. Vitamin therapies on the other hand focus on the “whole health”. A body that is truly healthy is healthy all over. The vitamins and minerals that keep the hair healthy will keep the body healthy as well.

When using health supplements, it is important to keep the idea of “whole health” in mind. Supplements will produce better results faster if the following are also done:

- Stop smoking. One of the most noticeable effects of tobacco smoke is constriction of the veins and arteries. Good blood supply is essential to healthy hair. Constricted veins carry fewer nutrients and oxygen and are less able to nourish the papilla and matrix, where hair growth starts. Nicotine also depletes some vitamins, especially water-soluble ones such as Vitamin C.

Don’t overuse medications given to you by the pharmacist. All prescriptions should be taken as the doctor has written. You can ask your doctor if natural medicines are appropriate.

- Eat properly. Every part of the body, from blood to follicle cells to nerves, depends on a regular supply of essential nutrients. These include proteins, vitamins, minerals and some fat. Unfortunately, the typical American diet is not balanced, and is heavy on animal fat and starch while low in vitamins and fiber. To improve the diet, most people should eat more fresh fruits and vegetables (at least six servings per day) and cut back on red meat, bread, pastry, and fried or deep-fried foods and snack items. It is also important to maintain proper fluid levels by drinking six to eight glasses of water per day.

- Don’t overdo alcohol. Too much can cause vitamin deficiencies, such as low levels of Folic Acid.

- Keep stress to a minimum. Studies have shown that high levels of stress may be a contributing factor to many types of alopecia, and will affect the body’s overall health. Many people with high levels of stress react by pulling or tugging at their hair and are sometimes unaware that they are doing it. (The condition is called trichotillomania.) If it isn’t possible to adapt your lifestyle, make small changes wherever possible. Some herbal medicines have also been proven to reduce stress without side-effects.

- Treat the hair carefully. Wet hair is extremely fragile. Never brush wet hair. Instead, comb it gently. Take out tangles by working the hair from the ends, rather than forcing the comb through, which will break or pull out the hairs. Blow-dryers, hot rollers and brushing against the grain (such as “back-combing”) are also very hard on the hair.

- Limit hair treatments. All chemical treatments, such as permanents, straightening, dying or bleaching will weaken the hair shaft, especially if they are used in combination (e.g., dying and then curling the hair). Weakened hairs are easily broken. Hair that breaks at or close to the scalp will give the same appearance as hair that has fallen out.

- Avoid tight styles. These can break the hair, or pull on the follicles enough to cause damage. (This damage is known as traction alopecia.) Cornrows or tight braids are bad for this. If you are going to tie your hair back, make sure the ponytail is loose.

- Use gentle cleansers. Cheap, harsh shampoos are hard on the hair. Use gentle shampoos. Wash the hair thoroughly, but don’t overwork it, as it is fragile when wet. Rinse very well to remove all traces of the product.

Finding the Best Muscle Gaining Supplements for You

Are you looking for the best muscle gaining supplements? It is highly recommended to have some basic knowledge about muscles, their growth, characteristics and their functionalities before looking for in-depth information about muscle gain and associated dietary supplements. Why?

Knowing about muscle will help you understand better how muscle-building supplements work, and how they can help you build bigger muscles.

We can categorize the muscles as contractile tissues. The categorization is according to the nature of muscles fibers. Slow-twitch and fast-twitch are two main categories. The first type of muscles can contract for longer span of time and they need little force.

For the other type of muscles, they comparatively contract faster and they are responsible for power and energy in the human body. However, they become fatigued in shorter span of time.

Most of the muscles get their power (read energy) from carbohydrates and fats. Various chemical reactions such as anaerobic exercise produce adenosine triphosphate or ATP, making fast-twitch fibers work in the human body.

Supplements help in the production of muscle hypertrophy, enhancing muscle gain by increasing the size of muscle cells. They are also responsible for supplying and maintaining additional levels of the various nutrients necessary for muscle hypertrophy.

If you are looking for muscle gaining supplements, you must be aware of the fact that nothing works the same way for everybody. A case in point is creatine. Though it has been hailed as one of the greatest muscle-building supplement ever discovered, some professional bodybuilders say it does not work for them.

Muscle gaining supplements should suit your own exercise regimen and lifestyle. This can be explained with an example. Supposing you are involved into aerobic exercises that cause exertions and fluctuations in the energy level, and varying muscles contractions. The most important requirement of such exercises is adequate oxygen and less production of lactic acid.

In contrast to these exercises, anaerobic exercises are short and high- intensity exercises and the requirement will be different. In these exercise, there will be involvements of fast-switch fibers. The basic requirement of these exercises is to get sufficient ATP also known as glucose.

Based on your body type and workout routine, muscle gain supplements may include weight gainers, nitric oxide, protein, creatine products and amino acid blends, to name but a few.

It is highly recommended that you use only supplements that your body and routine require, otherwise they will not do any good to you (and can be expensive). One of the most important things to consider is body composition. People looking to boost body bulkiness need different supplements from those seeking to cut down.

However, some basic requirements do run across the board. One is protein, which is and essential part of building muscle without which your efforts will come to zero. Getting the amount of protein recommended for muscle gaining from food alone is not easy. That is why it is a good idea to take a good protein supplement.

Your success in building muscle depends on choice of supplements. Some online stores offer much great deals. Find out more at: Top Bodybuilding Supplements now. David is a health and fitness enthusiast and expert and offers free tips at Vitamins and Health Supplements

The Six Ways Aging Changes Your Skin

How aging affects the skin varies from person to person; it really depends on several factors like lifestyle and genetics. There are definitely some steps we can take to control the skin aging process. Many people are becoming fascinated with using Argan oil for anti aging concerns. To a certain degree, however, aging is a natural and inevitable process; your skin will eventually show signs of age. The following are a few ways that aging can change the skin:

The skin grows more thin

As skin ages, it becomes thinner. Blood vessels are also more apparent in aged skin which becomes less firm and supple. Because skin becomes thinner, it is also more easily bruised and marked, and red spots or purplish patches may be a common sight on older skin.

The skin gets dry

The older people get the smaller the amount of fluids produced by the skin to keep it young and supple. Older skin therefore tend to itch and grows drier and rougher. Dryness does not have to be a big problem as there are ways of moisturizing the skin. You can rub on moisturizing creams or lotions to bring back hydration to the skin so itchiness and skin irritation can be relieved.

There is an appearance of wrinkles and lines

More mature skin is dryer and less elastic, which mean that it is prone to wrinkles and fine lines. You can help control the onset of wrinkles by not smoking and using sunscreen.

Age spots become visible

Age spots, or liver spots, are mottled brown patches that are common in older skin. These are usually caused by too much exposure to the sun resulting in skin damage. You can prevent age spots by applying sun screen with a sufficient Sun Protection Factor (SPF) before going out in the sun or avoiding direct exposure entirely.

There are an increasing number of skin tags

Genetics and hormone fluctuations can lead to skin tags. They also become quite common on aged skin. These skin growths look like loose flaps of skin and occur on the parts of the body where the skin folds, like under the bra line or in the arm pit. Although skin tags are harmless, they can be unsightly and cause some irritation. A dermatologist can remove them with a simple procedure.

Skin requires more time for healing

As you age your skin loses moisture and durability, meaning it will take you longer to heal as you get older.
